How to choose the right construction equipment

01By type of work

Digging: a mini excavator (1.6–5.85 t) or a backhoe loader (8.3–8.9 t), which digs and loads. Loading: a mini loader or a front loader (2,000–3,000 kg). Levelling: a motor grader with a 3,658 mm blade. Compaction: a 16 t compactor with a 2,120 mm drum.

02Working space

Machine width decides access: 1,240–2,000 mm for mini excavators, 1,818–1,880 mm for the HL 809, CDM 308, CDM 312 and HL812A mini loaders, 2,200–2,500 mm for front loaders and 2,350–2,449 mm for backhoe loaders. Measure the narrowest passage on site.

03Moving between sites

Backhoe loaders (36.5 km/h) and the motor grader (up to 49.2 km/h) travel on wheels at higher speeds. Mini excavators (3.6–5 km/h) and the compactor (7.6 km/h) are slow and are moved between sites on a platform.

04Engine power

Power rises with the category: 9.8–36.2 kW for mini excavators, 36.7–72.8 kW for mini loaders, 74–92 kW for backhoe loaders and front loaders, 118–132 kW for the compactor and motor grader. Allow a margin if you work with hydraulic attachments or on heavy ground.

Lonking is a Chinese construction machinery manufacturer founded in 1993, with over 1,000 models. Backhoe loader or mini excavator?

The backhoe loader (8.3–8.9 t, wheeled, 36.5 km/h) digs and loads in a single machine. The mini excavator (1.6–5.85 t, tracked) fits through openings from 1,240 mm wide and digs with 0.04–0.25 m³ buckets. See the backhoe loaders and the mini excavators.

Mini loader or front loader?

Mini loaders (0.48–0.75 m³ bucket) work in yards and warehouses. The CDM936 and CDM856 front loaders have a loading capacity of 2,000 and 3,000 kg and buckets of 1.5 and 2.3 m³ (grain volume). See the mini loaders and the front loaders.
